An order received the first day after I returned home, on Wednesday - it was ready to be printed on Saturday at lunchtime.
Anyone who works with screen printing knows very well that the preparations take a long time, and the actual printing process - which is actually the most satisfying - is short.
The client contacted me on Wednesday afternoon, I accepted the order, and on Thursday morning I sent a sample print test on a T-shirt from the junk box to let him decide if embroidery was more suitable.
Then during the morning I ordered my t-shirts from Tricouri Ador and in the meantime I took care of the graphics, because I didn't have anything from the client yet - just a color and an idea.
Of course, I screwed up with the first version of the graphics, because that's who I am, I'm still nostalgic for the post-communist 90s with graphic trends like CRIS MARKET IMPEX SRL, an importer of jeans from Turkey. Constanta in 1992 was brutal, I don't know how I finished kindergarten that year.
I hereby apologize to the client for broadcasting a horrible thing that still gives me bad dreams. No IMPEX, no Turkey from now on, I promise.
By the way, I forgot to mention that I can also perform embroidery services for textiles.
Despite the advice and a decent price of 20 LEI / 10x10cm embroidery, the client still opted for screen printing. With a final logo and no other changes, we moved on to production.
On Friday the order came from the supplier after 4:00 PM, but I didn't do anything with the t-shirts. I cleaned a few sieves and emulsified them. I left the sieves to dry overnight in the pink closet.
Saturday from 6 am to 12:30 pm I developed the stencils (screen printing screens) and then printed. The actual printing was from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm so about 18 minutes / t-shirt effective printing.
It's not fast, because I don't have a carousel. It's not easy, because I don't have controlled temperature and humidity in the workshop.
The price was the one displayed on the website, I didn't mess around - I'm not a donkey. I'm sorry I had a lot of fibrillation because of the buttons on the first 6 shirts. The buttons pushed the mesh up and the distance from the shirt was too great, so a tearing effect was formed after the paint scraper passed through. The paint was torn up by the mesh and took the fiber threads with it.
I solved the effect towards the end of the series after first trying to thin the paint with water. I applied a 2mm high support under the t-shirt. When printing white paint, being thicker, it is very important to have the right distance between the t-shirt and the screen - not too big and not too small - and it is all based on tests.
